I actually... uploaded some videos to YouTube. Wow. I think I'll embed them here! They're both from Commander Keen 4.
Paddle War! Which is very similar to Pong. I quite when I got up to six points, but when you get 21 points, you get a little message saying that you won. Not very exciting.
This is a secret area in the first level that I only found out about today. Now I'm suddenly curious about whether or not the water in Lifewater Oasis is reachable too. I always assumed it was there for the scenery.
Boring gameplay video post over.

I didn't feel up to doing anything not timewasting today, so I started playing the third Phoenix Wright game.
( Thoughts so far. Spoilers for Case 1 and a bit of Case 2 )
After I turned off the DS, I watched some YouTube videos of old games I used to play. Rayman, Rayman 2, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Commander Keen 4: Goodbye Galaxy, Jazz Jackrabbit, stuff like that. Then I wondered whether the music would work again if I ran Commander Keen or Cosmo on DOSbox. It does. So... I'm never calling you back. Doo hoo. In case you don't understand cryptic Homestar Runner reference speak, which seems likely, I'm going to go play those now. Bye.

Preordered Super Smash Bros Brawl. Yay. Just a week and a month before I get to play it.
This xkcd comic makes me laugh every time I think of it, and it's been a while since I first saw it. It's exactly the kind of thing I'd come up with.
I just found out that, on a forum he frequents, my brother has the same quote in his sig as I used to. Freaked me out. The quote's from A Trekkie's Tale, the fanfic that originated the term Mary Sue.
I don't care what anyone else says, this icon is adorable.

I was going to do a screencap adventure of The Neverhood on
screencappery, but I can't find it. This is really frustrating. I thought that I could complete the game tonight and sort through the screenshots to post afterwards, but the case isn't where I left it where I rearranged our games a few weeks ago.
My brother probably has it, but he's in bed so I can't go check. So I guess I'll play Adventures With Edison, an education game from around the same time, instead. I remember that being kind of fun. Hopefully I can get it to run on this computer.
If I've decided to play computer games for the next hour or so, I can't seem to just shrug and say "oh well". I need to play computer games.

Oh, why am I so shy?
In other news, I have a DS now. It cost $150, but it was still a bargain. I'm thinking of getting Pokemon Pearl as well.
Um. That's it.

I'm taking drawing classes at night. I just had the first class, and it was pretty good. I drew some stuff and didn't feel as inadequete as I usually do. Yeah, pretty good.
Also, I just started playing Mother 3, since I hear Brawl is going to spoil it. I'm using a translation guide, and I hope it doesn't turn out to be too much of a hassle. The translation guide, not the game. Ever since that post on
fandomsecrets a few days ago about how Mother 3 made them feel like a murderer, I've wanted to play it more than ever. I like games that draw you in emotionally.

I'm reading somes entries on the TV Tropes Wiki. It's late at night and they're scaring me. I think being scared by the idea of skipping bosses in video games came from a dream I had when I was twelve where I skipped the boss of the art level in Rayman and it came to my house and tried to kill me, but I don't know why treasure chests that become inaccessible after a certain point worry me.
Skippable bosses scare me not because I think they're going to come to my house and kill me, but because I think they'll show up later in the game and kill me. And I think I remember reading something about this actually happening in some survival horror game about dolls. I wish I could look that up, but I read it on the old Godawful Fanfiction forums, and the archives of that aren't up yet.
I'm reading these pages because they scare me.
I'll put up the rest of my Tasmania journal tomorrow, hopefully. Unless I spend the whole day fangirling the latest Strong Bad Email again. Strong Bad making fun of Homestar Runner fanfiction? A+++++++++++++++++ Would laugh at uncontrollably again.

I'm too shaky to edit any writing, so I'll post the drabbles I spoke of tomorrow. Hopefully. Now, let the tl;dr-ness commence. I added some comments in italicised square brackets.

So a little while ago, my internet connection started dropping out every few minutes. I traced the problem to the fact I was viewing
fandomsecrets, assumed it was because of all the pictures I was downloading, and forgot about it.
But now my connection is dropping out because I'm playing Wario Land 3 on an emulator. The state of mind I get into while playing that game is helpful for when I get stuck when I'm writing. But why would it drop out because I'm playing a game? And it won't let me press two arrow keys and a letter at the same time, which I need to do to finish the game. I can fix that by assigning two directions to one key, but still, it's a hassle.
And, the interface for Notepad keeps messing up while I play it. At one point, it right-aligned, which I'm pretty sure it can't do, and jumbled the text a bit.
Now, to wait for my connection to drop back in so I can post this entry.

This Homestar Runner text adventure I'm making just keeps getting weirder and weirder. It's like I was roleplaying the plot, and I ended up staying up until three in the morning, and also I was roleplaying with Homsar. Only with less rape. Not that I'd use rape as a plot device if I was roleplaying with Homsar... Anyway. Hopefully it'll okay, despite its "Strong Sad does stuff... And weird stuff happens!" plot. It has.... raisins! Or it will have raisins, once I program them in.
Also, I downloaded a bunch of games from Home of the Underdogs, including a doctor sim where you have to diagnose patients, and perform surgery on them if they need it. I am very bad at the surgery part. I think I killed about ten patients before I stopped playing. And I kept stabbing them in the colon, or something. I got down to the appendix, but I had no idea how to take it out. Maybe I was supposed to stab it?
I played a dating sim too. I played as a male character, and had to make a girlfriend with skill points, Sims style. I just put in my own measurements for the height and weight parts, but I had no idea what I was doing with the waist, hip and bust measurements, and as a result, my girlfriend's attractiveness was rated at a three. I didn't care, because attractiveness doesn't have as much as an impact on the story as some other things do, but it was pretty funny when the game started talking about how fat my girlfriend was and how she ate too much. It was funny because I'm underweight.
I don't think I woke up properly this morning. I'm all tired and deja vu-y.

Here are a couple of dreams I had. Because my dreams are so totally fascinating.
In the first one, I was playing some sort of... block game, maybe? It was a recent, cutting edge game with great graphics and an involved storyline, but most of the gameplay consisted of pushing blocks. At one point, I found a minigame that could better be described as "the entire first Phoenix Wright game". As I'd never played Phoenix Wright, my subconscious made up a lot of random stuff. Um. Edgeworth was there. I only have the vaguest idea of who Edgeworth is, but he was there.
There was a part in the minigame where I had to figure out who was telling the truth. They were all talking about general knowledge stuff, but because it was a dream, I had no idea what they were talking about. One person, who was female and whose name started with m (not you,
mwagen, if you're reading this) started talking about the backstory to Star Control 2, pretty accurately if I remember correctly. I was like "Well, that's true, but is it the right answer? I don't think the game requires knowledge of a completely different game in order to beat it." But before I could make a choice, I woke up.
In the other dream, I was playing the Falling Sand Game, despite the fact I'd decided a few months ago to stop playing it because it was so addictive. I have no idea why I'd be dreaming about it now. I guess it's not as bad as the time I had three dreams practically in a row about Opposites Attract (The Homestar/Strong Bad roleplay on deviantART, not anything else by that name).
Anyway, in my dream the graphics for the version of the Falling Sand Game I was using were very good. I filled up the whole stage, which really did look like a stage, with sand, then dropped some ants on it. You can't get ants in any version of the Falling Sand Game, but in my dream they made an anthill and some tunnels in the sand. I dropped some water down the hole and washed everything away, then tried dropping the ants on some salt. They died.
Now I want to play a version of the Falling Sand Game with ants.
(I'm not that thankful, I just like the image I used to represent it)

I've been playing SimEarth a lot lately. It's this game from 1991 where you get control of an entire planet. It had the potential to be a really good game, but it... wasn't. Still, there was some stuff I enjoyed doing.
