Let's save humanity for real

  • May. 18th, 2008 at 4:27 PM
We are all here because we loved reading about a few young people who saved the world. In their honor and just out of respect for your duty as a world citizen, I encourage everyone here to send support to victims of this week's Earthquake in Sichuan. More than 32,500 people are dead, and more than 9,500 people are still BURIED. Thousands and thousands more are wounded, uprooted, and grieving.

OUR PRAYERS WILL NOT HELP THEM. OUR MONEY WILL. I am contributing $100. I realize that this is pocket change, but it's what I have as a college sophomore. Give what you can and encourage everyone you know to give what they can, and it actually will make a difference.

Here are some suggested organizations to send donations:

My school is making a group donation to the Chinese Consulate General in New York. (http://www.nyconsulate.prchina.org/eng/).

Red Cross of China (http://www.redcross.com.cn)

Mercy Corps (http://www.mercycorps.org): this organization has local offices in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province and currently serves as the center of all relief work.

Heart to Heart International (http://:www.hearttoheart.org): this organization has a local medical team in Chengdu that has already been active in relief work. Additionally, the organization is sending in additional medical teams to Chengdu.

World Vision (http://www.worldvision.org): this organization also has local offices in Chengdu. They are looking at providing food, safe/potable water, blankets, temporary shelter, cooking utensils and other needed materials for quake victims.

Half Sky (Half the Sky's Children's Earthquake Fund, (http://give.halfthesky.org/prostores/servlet/Categories?category=Children's+Earthquake+Fund): this organization has orphanages
throughout China and is now actively engaged in taking care of orphans from the disaster area.

ALSO: add (R) [rainbow] in front of your MSN user name and tell all your friends to do the same; Microsoft China will donate $0.50 for each rainbow.

Finally, if you know people in China, ask them to donate blood.  Encourage everyone you know elsewhere  to donate money.

Let's do it.

I just finished watching this week's Dr. Who episode, the Unicorn and the Wasp, and I have to say, I think this is my favorite episode.

Summary

Wikipedia Entry

Prompt:
Make a Choice

Questions:

No questions today, but with this one does anyone really need it?

Note: I’m posting this from the airport. Sorry for it being late, although how many of these have been on time? X| Next week we will be reading MM1: The Andalite’s Gift, not #8 The Alien. Don’t forget!

Rules:
- Common sense: be nice, be literate, be mature. If you can’t handle that, we’ll ask you to leave.

- Start on topic. If your conversation takes you into the land of ferrets and their evil quest to take over the world, run with it. But please at least start off talking about the book or subjects at hand.

- The questions and prompts are optional. Do not feel obliged to keep your comments only to what we have posted. They are a guide, a starting point, not a limitation.

- There is no time limit.

- Don’t delete your comments, unless it’s for the purpose of fixing typos.

- Keep your discussion to the current or previous books.
I'M SO SORRY I'VE BEEN REALLY TERRIBLE WITH COMMENTS LATELY AND AHJRSUIAHFIA

and I'm sorry this isn't any more substantial, but it turns out that my Unfounded Revenge/Smashing Song of Praise flash (the youtube version) got featured in the PK Tube'n Update/Extension post! :D :D They like it yaaaaay although i'm more proud of the duster bit than the bit they chose but glee anyway :D

Although personally, I'm rooting for Bring Lucas to America, which is about the saddest and cutest thing I've ever seen. WHAT AN AWESOME IDEA.
And also this piano medley is super awesome.

I really don't even care if I win, I don't know what I'd do with the prizes anyway. |D I just want to help spread the word around for EarthBound and Mother 3, you know? THAT'S WHAT REALLY COUNTS. THAT'S WHY I DID MY SCREENCAP ADVENTURE, WHY I DO FANART AND FLASH, ALL OF IT, TO TRY AND SHARE THIS WONDERFUL AND MAGICAL EXPERIENCE WITH OTHERS i'm like a super lame hippie for things no normal person cares about what's wrong with me

I'm still all happy about that I must admit. :D I actually have a second flash in mind to the Eight Melodies from the Mother 1+2 album that'd be really sweet if I actually ever do it, but we'll see. God the eight melodies bring tears to my eyes every single time. they just bring back so many memories. :O

Sing a melody of love, of love~

SPEAKING OF MUSIC, HERE HAVE SOME

Remember that Animusic thing I mentioned? I really love Pogo Sticks (video) which REALLY reminds me of the StarCraft Terran music at points, Resonant Chamber (video) (which, for some bizarre reason, reminded both me AND Sheena of Furcadia of all things), Fiber Bundles (video), and Heavy Light (video). :D :D I love this stuff so much~
I also like the Synth version of Fiber Bundles without the backbeat, don't mind me. It's just kind of neat.
I can't believe I didn't have the Ding Ding Dong (Tra La La) song until now. I love the hook for it. I AM COMPLETELY CAPABLE OF IGNORING INCREDIBLY STUPID, TRITE, RIDICULOUS LYRICS IN FAVOR OF A CATCHY MELODY OKAY. You cannot be a fan of techno/dance/europop/trance without this ability.
I met a girl she said her name was Sue, oh woah woah oh la la la~
Do you remember that incredibly cliche Angel musical I talked about a while ago that had the awesome music? They're finally releasing some demo tracks, and here's one for one of my favorite tracks from the whole thing, Forgotten. God the chorus for this get stuck in my head SO easily. WHY WON'T THEY RELEASE LIBERTAS IMPERIO ARGH
Actually, even more infuriating is that apparently they DID release Libertas Imperio for a brief time, THEN TOOK IT DOWN. AND WE MISSED IT. D: we've been searching but now we can't find it anywhere (Fearsum, can you assist? D:)
There's also What If from the same Paradise Lost thing, although I don't like it quite as much as the other tracks. :B
YES I RIPPED THAT SPEED RACER SONG OKAY IT'S AWESOME speaking of which I saw the movie and greatly enjoyed it. SCREW THE HATERS.
Chris Brown - Forever is just delicious all the way through. FEARSUM THERE'S A REMIX OF THIS THAT SHEENA WAS TELLING ME ABOUT THAT MAKES IT EVEN MORE AWESOME, CAN YOU HELP? god i love vocoders

more later maybe~

This didn't bother me so much when I first saw the episode "Oh, No! Yono!", but upon watching it again several times I came to realise just how much the ending bugs me.

Under a cut because the fourth season is still fresh in some countries )

Have you ever named or befriended an inanimate object? What did you call it?

I'm typing this up on River, with Alyssa sitting at my side. I'm looking at Wesker and wondering if I'd like to play a little more Metroid Prime 2.

Surely everyone name's their electronics right?

River and I are also good buddies most of the time, everyone around me knows that XD.

I got flames! WOO!

At Fanlib.com, but still, flames.

I completely forgot I had an account there. I got a notice today that someone had friended me there. Went and checked it out, and I got flames!

These are for the Eragon Redux story I did ages ago.

Let me be the first to comment on a job well done. Quiting the story was the smartest move a great book hating idiot like you could think of. Think for yourself and never try again. See your idiocy. You moron! Freak! Illiterate Moron!

---- My Reply----

Hi!

This is what I get for showing back up on line after a while. First off, in regards to the story, the only reason why I quit is because my writing partner and I couldn't figure out how to continue the story.

Second of all, I'm not a book hating moron. What proof do you have of me being a book hater? The fact that I dislike one particular book does not mean that I dislike all books that exist. And, I'm allowed to dislike books. There is no rule that says that I have to love everything I read.

What exactly am I supposed to think for my self? If I am thinking for myself, does that mean I shouldn't listen to what you say? And what aren't I doing again? You should be more clear with your insults.

Finally, in continuing that vein of thought, if I'm illiterate, how am I supposed to read your comments and suggestions?

Thank you for your thoughtful review.

In book 17, the Leeran planet one (sorry blanking on title) why was Ax worried about Visser 3 morphing the Kafit and thinking he'd been to the Andalite world? Couldn't Alloran have already picked up the morph earlier on, before he got taken?

btw finished The Host, personally I think it was pretty good...the whispers of Animorphs were in my mind but it was different enough to be good.

Dear Doctor Who

We understand that the Doctor and Donna aren't romantically involved. Really, we do.

Could you please stop pointing it out it every single episode now?

Lots of love,

Because you people are crazy, and I wanted to see just how MUCH -- and don't tell me you haven't wondered, too!

Wanted a week or so of data before throwing this up somewhere. Don't worry, not doing any creepy stalking or anything, just using it as a hit counter. And with that many hits, there's no WAY we can track any individual person or comment.

Chapter twenty eight and twenty nine

Hey. Anita's pregnant! Remember that? But before we get to that, we have to go through Anita getting dressed. All the guy who she considers lovers and boyfriends have left. I'm not very clear on the difference between the two. Or at least what she considers the difference between the two. She's an emotional wreck because she's "bound metaphysically to so many different men". \~/ We get the whole kit and kabbodle on what she wears, which is very important. So important that I shall reproduce it for you here.

Yay block text of description! )

I'M A BIT MORE AWAKE NOW and I have some liiiinks

I REMADE MY SIERRA SHIRT i actually got it screenprinted at shirtmagic.com because my older one was just mangled over time due to it being iron-on. BUT THIS ONE IS PERMANENT AND AWESOME
TOTAL AWESOME and even better, I finally have it in XL so it feels like a giant tent. :D :D I like my clothing to be as loose-fitting and baggy as possible since that feels the most comfortable, so the more it feels like I'm going to disappear into a shirt the better I like it. My old version was pretty small and form-fitting and bah, and I was never able to have the back spreading across the whole thing like I wanted. The colors aren't an EXACT match but really that's no big deal because the front is so insanely awesome that that totally overshadows it. :D :D
I'M GONNA REMAKE MY STARCON2 SHIRT THIS WAY TOO so the back won't look so raggedy after a few washes and maybe my Dahlia one too because I really want the back to have my Dahlia motto all over it like I pictured (the "Despite the crazy things you've seen and the whacked-out stuff I'm telling you, I want you to take this mysterious object I won't explain to this location I just pulled out of thin air" line) and yee.

BUT IN OTHER NEWS

HEY SOMEONE HAS Ringing Bell ON YOUTUBE and I'd recommend watching it as SOON as possible because Ringing Bell has a habit of vanishing pretty quickly and it's very hard to find, since it's pretty obscure. It's an extremely dark kid's movie that Sheeners used to watch as a kid and told me about, and it's depressing and sad as all get out BUT WORTH WATCHING. SERIOUSLY. If you've seen Unico (either Unico movie) or The Sea Prince and the Fire Child, or have any interest in very early dubbed (yes the dubbing can be pretty unintentionally hilarious at points, if you're interested in that as well) anime, you should watch it. It's really one of the saddest things I've ever seen. AND WHO KNOWS HOW LONG IT'LL BE UP WATCH IT NOW
part two three four five six
And this is where I got my Ampharos' Chirin's name, for those curious. Although my Chirin isn't nearly as tragic as the actual Chirin. D:

Brings back fond memories of FF8. I whupped Ultimecia by powerleveling my characters OBSCENELY high, but it's neat to watch her go down at lower levels as well, hahahaha.
Also man I love the music in FF8 like woah.
Cats are DETERMINED
I need to try this now
I am COMPLETELY fascinated with people making music out of things you normally wouldn't think of, so this was just really awesome to me. :D And the song is pretty catchy too.
Despite the dorky narrator, this is really beautiful.
YOU'VE GOT EVERY KIND OF CRITTER YOU'VE GOT EVERY KIND OF PEST BUT WE TREAT EM ALL AS EQUALS JUST LIKE ANY OTHER GUEST i love the muppets seriously
I admit, I just like melodic, angry swearing
I'm not entirely surprised that I'd seen almost every single one of these cartoons with the exception of four: Sherlock Holmes in the 21st Century, Dragon Warrior (although I'm very curious now), Bill and Ted's Excellent Cartoon (or something like that), and Back to the Future (there was a back to the future cartoon?!).
BUT EVERY OTHER ONE I'VE SEEN AT SOME POINT hahahaha
It's pretty neat to hear this song in Hebrew. The chorus in particular is pretty awesome. Sheena, have you picked this one up yet? :O
Further proof that I'm extremely easily amused. I can't help but giggle at "Stupefy that ho" every time.
The treadmill kittens have become a phenomenon, but just in case you haven't seen them already.

I really, really, really love Wayne Lytle and all of his music. A WHOLE lot. This goes way way back. I recently picked up the soundtrack to Animusic 2 and i love it to pieces aaaa. I don't have it on this computer though, so maybe I'll put it up later. But one of my favorite bits/songs from Animusic 2 is Fiber Bundles which is just awesome.
Although Pipe Dream on Guitar Hero is pretty awesome as well. :D

And this is one of the most awesomely mesmerizing things I've ever seen. :O

You know what's insanely hilarious? The original Speed Racer cartoon. SO AWESOME. How fast they talk and how they repeat themselves constantly and the no-budget animation, it's just hysterical the whole way through. THIS SECRET FILM WAS FILMED SECRETLY for example. This one has the awesome exchange of "ARE YOU MY BROTHER? ARE YOU MY BROTHER REX RACER?" "*PUNCH IN THE GUT*" which is worth at least one watch. I GUARANTEE YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED. unless you have no soul or something.

Also maybe I'm just a dork but this version of the Speed Racer theme is getting me ridiculously pumped. GO SPEED RACER (GO!), GO SPEED RACER (GO!), GO SPEED RACER GOOOOOO (MACH A GO GO!)! I love how it blends the english and japanese versions of the theme and starts all old school and then picks up so smoothly and it's so cool and energetic and I want to have this blaring at full volume in my car on the freeway now. SO AWESOME. I find myself intrigued enough at the potential of the Speed Racer movie to be incredibly stupid, campy fun (and [info]runawayblue's recommendations) to actually maybe go see it in theaters. WE'LL SEE.

Speaking of freeways, on my way home today I saw a car on fire on the other side. Dang.

MACH A GO GO! MACH A GO GO! MACH A GO GO GOOOOOOOOO!
